At our annual Show and Share meeting on January 11, 2024, the attendees brought some interesting artifacts, including a Cowichan sweater showing the story of the Thunderbird who took the whale out of Cowichan Bay, a small replica of a Sami (northern Norwegian) shelter, research on local ancestors, found metal tools and miners' tags from local coal mines, and maps of local coal mine locations.

A cheque for a $10,000 grant from the Leynard Legacy was presented to Susan Bates, of the Nanaimo Family History Society, for their society's current work to produce online maps of residents in early Nanaimo.

We acknowledge that we meet on the traditional territory of the Snuneymuxw people from whom Nanaimo takes its name.
